Crossroads

The Maladype Theatre launched its “Crossroads” project in 2011. The program’s main goal is to present artistic directions, theatres and workshops that represent new trends in cultural life, enhance new artistic initiatives, help in establishing new ways of contacts with the audience and foster ties among different countries. That way the European independent theatres are given the possibility to cooperate and establish a network that helps them in creating new meeting points for dialogue and interaction.

The Maladype Theatre has benefited a lot from its international ties: by establishing them it has the possibility to get acquainted with various theatrical troupes, traditions and institutions. We consider our important task also to present new trends, and young talents to our spectators. We invite theatres and performances that can adapt easily themselves to our location and technical conditions.

ZERO

At the end of the theater season on June 6th Waitingroom Project - one of the most exciting independent theaters in Romania - presented performance Zero at TRIP Ship Theatre on the Danube river within the framework of the Crossroads program. The performance Zero was written and directed by Bálint Botos.

“I could be too an eight-hour slave, but no way. Fuck it. I’m free. I’m blocked like shit, that’s true. In fact I’m paralyzed by fear, but who said that freedom is an easy thing? You’re not selling the dope to the client, you’re selling the client to the dope.”
When the everyday labor of trying to get through the glass wall is starting to be too much, when everything is unbearably alright, when we can’t stop day-nightmare-ing, then we get stoned like a gravel road.

About Waitingroom Project:

It has been ten years now since the audience continuously shares our interest in the preforming arts be it plays targeting grown-ups or children’s (puppet) shows, thoroughly rehearsed and adapted plays or improvised ones, topics dealing with delicate social issues or works that contain daring experiments with the language of the plays. The founders of the group started the project immediately after having finished the university; this undertaking can be considered rather reckless. Through these years newly-graduated young actors and other theatre professionals have joined the group. Apart from the fact that we are all young we have other important things in common, as the fact that we all like what we do and treat our work and audience with utmost devotion.
